Mobile setup

You can run the full Queso bookmarking experience on iOS by pairing the Orion browser with the Chrome extension. Orion is currently the only mobile browser that supports running desktop-class extensions, so the workflow is slightly different from desktop but only takes a couple of minutes.

1. Install Orion and enable extensions​

  1. Download Orion Browser from the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Open Settings → Orion → Extensions and toggle on Enable Chrome Extensions.
  3. Restart Orion so the extension runtime is ready.

2. Add the Queso Chrome extension​

  1. Inside Orion, open the Chrome Web Store and search for Queso Bookmarks.
  2. Tap Add to Chrome. Orion will download the same build that desktop Chrome uses.
  3. Confirm when prompted and keep Orion open until the download finishes.

3. Create (or reuse) an API key​

The mobile extension uses the same API tokens as desktop:

  1. On any device, sign in to quesobookmarks.com and go to Settings → API keys.
  2. Create a token specifically for Orion so that you can revoke it independently if you lose your phone.
  3. Copy the token and AirDrop it, use a secure password manager, or email it to yourself so you can paste it on the device running Orion.

4. Configure the extension within Orion​

  1. In Orion, tap the puzzle icon, locate Queso, and open Options.
  2. Paste the API token and set the API server to https://quesobookmarks.com (or your self-hosted endpoint).
  3. Save—Queso will immediately validate the token and display a confirmation toast.

5. Capture bookmarks on mobile​

  • Tap the Queso icon while viewing any page to save it, add it to your queue, or capture highlights.
  • Long-press selected text and choose Share → Queso if you prefer sharing via the iOS sheet.
  • Sync is automatic; bookmarks saved on mobile appear in the desktop extension and dashboard within seconds.
Orion restarts

Orion occasionally unloads Chrome extensions after long sessions or when iOS reclaims memory. If Queso stops saving pages, fully quit and relaunch Orion—this restores the extension sandbox. Very rarely you may need to paste the token again if Orion cleared extension storage.

With Orion plus the Queso Chrome extension you get the same capture, notes, and queue flow everywhere, no separate mobile app required.
