  2. Sign up with email + password or continue with Google/Apple. This creates your personal workspace.

  4. Once completed, you will be taken to the dashboard for API key creation.

3. Generate an API Key

Inside the dashboard click "+ Create key" then copy the generated key for next steps.

API tokens 101

  • Shown once: The full secret only appears in the success toast/modal right after creation. Copy it immediately—after you close the dialog you’ll only see a short fingerprint (e.g. abcd...wxyz).
  • Store it securely: Paste the secret into your password manager or secrets vault, and share it only with systems that need to call the API. If you misplace it, you must create a new token.
  • Rotate or revoke: Each token row has toggle/delete actions so you can disable a compromised key. For integrations, prefer creating one token per service so revoking doesn’t break unrelated workflows.

2. Install the Extension

Install the offical Queso Bookmarks extension from the Chrome Web Store.

-:::tip Pin the extension -Pinning the extension makes so the extension is always visible in the toolbar. -:::

4. Configure the Extension

  1. Right-click the Queso extension icon and choose Options.
  2. Paste the API token you generated into the API token field.
  3. Click Save

The extension immediately validates the token and will sync across all devices that have the extension installed and a valid API key configured.

5. Start Bookmarking

Click the extension icon on any page, Queso Bookmarks will then use the current browsers tab's content to auto-populate a bookmark form. Once saved, the bookmark will be added and available for management within Queso.

Manage Bookmarks

Open the Bookmark's page to search, filter and add notes to your saved bookmarks. All notes and article highlights are available to manage on the Notes page.
